Fort Worth Water Gardens:

This establishment is located in downtown Fort Worth. This is one of Fort Worth's relaxing urban parks. The Fort Worth Water Garden's is a refreshing and beautiful oasis. This establishment is adjacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center. The Fort Worth Water Garden's  can be enjoyed anytime of the year. It was designed as an architectural and engineering marvel. This park has three different pools of water. There is the aerating pool, the quiet pool, and the active pool. In the active pool there is a series of terraces with water tumbling down to a small pit.
 
Interesting information, portions of the movie Logan's Run were filmed in the active pool area. The gardens recently went under renovation and the park was reopened in the spring of 2007. This restoration included a north park entrance and multiple sprays in the aerating pool.


Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge:

This establishment is located just inside the city limits of Fort Worth. This is on the northwest side of Fort Worth. This park includes forests, prairies, and wetlands. This gives an example of what the Fort Worth/Dallas area once looked like. This park is over 3,600 acres. It is one of the largest nature centers in the United states owned by the city. There are over 20 miles of hiking trails which provide access to the natural wonders to be discovered. Often people get so caught up in their urban lifestyle they forget to stop and enjoy nature. This is a great place to get back in touch with your natural roots

There are entrance fees to the park. Entrance fees go as follows. Adults over 17 years of age is $4.00 per person. Children ages 3-17 years of age are $2.00. Senior citizens ages 65 and over are $3.00 per person. There hours vary through the seasons. The winter hours (October-April) are Mondaythrough Sunday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Summer hours which include May through September are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday's the park is open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Trinity Park: 


Trinity Park is located in downtown Fort Worth. This park was founded in 1997. Trinity parks winds along the west for of the Trinity River. There are paved multi-use trails running through Trinity Park. These trails are often used for hiking, biking, skating, and running. These trails encompass many miles around Fort Worth. They go all the way from Benbrook Lake, past the historic Stockyard area and beyond. In this park there are many playgrounds.

There are sheltered as well as unsheltered picnic areas and restrooms. These are scattered throughout the park. Park entry is free, however admission to special events and festivals may vary. The park is open from 7:00 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Benbrook Lake:

This lake is on the clear fork of the Trinity River. Benbrooke Lake is southwest of
downtown Fort Worth. The lake is 3,635 acres. The maximum depth of this lake is 70 feet. This lake is most often used for fishing. There are many predominant fish species for those hardcore fishermen. Largemouth bass are very popular as the sport fish in the reservoir. There is excellent fishery for the hybrid triped bass. Channel and blue catfish are very common. While white bass and crappie provide good angling opportunities. Fishing permits are required for this lake.
 
Lake Joe Pool is located a mere 30 minutes outside of Fort Worth in Grand Prairie, TX. This is a major park source for the citizens of Fort Worth.

Lake Joe Pool:


This lake has a variety of different parks in surrounding areas. Joe Pool offers recreation,
homes, as well as future retail and resort development. The lake is located in South Grand Prairie. There are many other parks located in and on Joe Pool Lake:

Lynn Creek Park:


Lynn Creek Park is located on the northwest shore of Joe Pool. Camping is not aloud in Lynn Creek Park. The park is open from 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. Lynn Creek Park has two boat ramps with eight lanes. It has a swimming beach along with concessions. It has nearly 100 picnic sites and group picnic pavilions. It has sand volleyball courts on the swimming beach.

Loyd Park: 


Loyd Park on Joe Pool does offer camping and cabins. The camping sites have water and electrical outlets. There are picnic areas as well as large picnic pavilions. It has a four lane boat lamp along with trailer parkingareas. It also has volleyball and softball fields. There is a swimming beach located on Joe Pool Lake. Loyd Park also has equestrian trails for hiking and biking. This park is open 24 hours a day, year round. There are events scheduled every year such as guided nature treks and Halloween hayrides. However  reservations are required on Holidays.

Britton Park:

Britton park is located off of Seeton Road on the southwest shore of Joe Pool Lake. There is a parking fee of $5.00 per day. The park is open March through October 28. In October it is excluded to only opening on the weekends. The park is closed October 29 through February 25. The park has a boat ramp for your boating needs on Joe Pool Lake. There are restroom facilities


The Lynn Creek Marina:


There is also the Lynn Creek Marina for your boating needs! Lynn Creek Marina is located
on the north side of Joe Pool. It is just near Lynn Creek Park entrance. The marina has more than 500 wet slips for fishing. Lynn Creek Marina does brisk boat rental business. It has indoor as well as outdoor fishing for non-boaters. Non-boaters can fish for 12 hours for just $5.00 and children for $3.00! Right next to the marina is the very popular, acclaimed Oasis restaurant. The Oasis restaurant has open dining and live entertainment on weekend on the waters of Joe Pool Lake.
